This large professional conference in the Orange County area will provide specialty care training to the local health care community. Day one will enable health care professionals to learn about new advances in diabetes education, research, medications and care practices to reduce diabetes complications and enhance quality of life. Day two includes information for professionals to help them overcome the medical, social and educational challenges of diabetes.

Learning Objectives:

1. Utilize various behavioral medicine and health education techniques in the treatment of diabetes to improve inpatient and outpatient care.  Addressing: exercise, eye care, innovative care models, technology, research, and patient barriers to adherence.

2. Discuss clinical implications of recent research in the areas of diabetes and surgery, pregnancy, care of adults and children, new insulins and medications.

3. Access current clinical findings related to the treatment of acute and chronic complications of diabetes.

 

4. Assess the social, medical and educational challenges of diabetes through the lifecycle and develop strategies for improving clinical outcomes.

 

5. Design and implement individualized patient education for

specific targeted populations to improve outcomes of care.
